Garadh a Bagh a tuath has been honoured with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the higest award a voluntary group can receive in the UK.
Garadh a’ Bhàgh a Tuath are one of only 24 organisations from across Scotland to be awarded the prestigious Queen’s Award this year and have been awarded it for providing supported access to a therapeutic garden and a dementia friendly café on the Island of Barra and Vatersay. The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Services aims to recognise outstanding work by volunteer groups to benefit their local community.
It is granted to exceptional volunteer groups across the UK who are making a positive impact on the lives of others.
Representatives from Garadh a Bagh a Tuath will be attending a garden party at Holyroodhouse on Wednesday 3rd July 2019, along with other receipient’s of this year Award. #QAVS2019
Representatives of Garadh a Bagh a Tuath received the award from Betty McAtear, Vice Lord Lieutenant of Western Isles on Friday evening at their Celebration Ceilidh.
