The big metal storage containers have arrived on site and work has started on the space between them. Last Friday, volunteers built the initial framework and diggers arrived today to lay the concrete. All this work was made possible by the funding we were awarded this year from the Youth Philanthropy Fund. The Castlebay Community School pupils, James MacNeill, Cailean MacNeill, Andrew MacNeill and Martin Sinclair, pitched this project to the funding committee and we were delighted to be selected as this year’s charity. We were awarded £3,000 to help with the laying of the concrete path and the additional storage/working space situated between the containers.
This work will allow us to have a safe and level area for volunteers to walk on as they come and go from the temporary carpark/containers. This will also give us additional bright space for us to work in and to use while the new build gets underway.
Huge thanks to the pupils of Castlebay Community School for your support of this project!
